A medical gas pipeline system delivers oxygen, medical air, vacuum, nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen and AGSS from central plant to every terminal unit in the hospital. Tecnomed supplies and sizes the whole chain.
The system begins at the source: automatic cylinder manifolds, screw-compressor medical air plants, triplex vacuum plants, PSA oxygen generators or liquid oxygen tanks with evaporators, each sized to the bed count, department mix and peak demand of the hospital.
Distribution runs through EN 13348 copper pipework with area valve service units on every ward and department. AVSUs isolate zones for maintenance or emergency and carry local alarm panels; second stage regulators bring pressure down to the required 4–5 bar at the point of use.
Terminal units – medical gas outlets in DIN 13260-2, BS 5682 or AFNOR standard – are mounted in bed head units, ICU units, pendants or wall modules, and complemented by flowmeters, vacuum regulators and probes.
TEC51.19 The automatic medical gas manifold system is the cylinder-fed source of a hospital pipeline, supplying oxygen, nitrous oxide, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, medical air and mix gas. Two regulation stages drop cylinder pressure to a stable 4-5 bar line pressure, while duty and reserve banks change over automatically and a digital alarm unit reports line pressure and cylinder content.
TEC51.20 The Tecnomed medical air plant produces the sterile compressed air a hospital needs for ventilation and surgical use. Three screw compressors, compressed air tanks, refrigerated and desiccant dryers, four-stage filtration and a medical air regulator panel work together to deliver dry, oil-free, odour-free air at the pressure required by intensive care and operating theatres.
TEC51.21 The technical medical air plant is Tecnomed's economical alternative for facilities with a smaller bed count. A single screw compressor mounted over a horizontal receiver, with its own dryer, filter set and 4-7 bar regulator group, produces sterile air to medical standards in a compact footprint, and can be doubled as a redundant tank-over system or backed up with cylinders.
TEC51.22 The Tecnomed medical vacuum plant is the central suction source for patient rooms, intensive care units and operating theatres. Three vacuum pumps connected in parallel are run at equal time intervals by an equal-aging PLC control panel, negative pressure is stored in twin tanks and the line is protected by a double bacteria filter set before it reaches the wards.
TEC31.01 The Elegance zone service unit is a medical gas zone valve box for one to six gases including vacuum, built behind a sliding printed plexiglass cover. Analogue manometers, isolating valves, low pressure sensors and a gas alarm controller sit in one electrostatically painted carbon steel frame, manufactured to EN ISO 7396-1 and HTM 02-01.
TEC31.02 The Vexillum zone control unit is a galvanized steel medical gas zone valve box for one to six gases including vacuum, closed by a hinged cover with a lock. Separate analogue manometers, isolating valves and low pressure sensors serve each gas, and the Multi Alarm X display is read through the cover window. Built to EN ISO 7396-1 and HTM 02-01.
TEC31.03 The Stainless zone control unit is a medical gas zone valve box built entirely from stainless steel, for areas where hygiene, cleaning regimes or humidity rule out a painted body. It monitors the pressure of each gas service in the area and cuts the gas flow in an emergency, manufactured to EN ISO 7396-1 and HTM 02-01.
TEC31.04 The Multi Alarm X medical gas alarm unit gives an audible warning when pipeline pressures move outside their limits and shows every monitored gas on an LCD screen. It generates separate high and low pressure alarms per gas, both high priority, and transmits pressure values, limit settings and alarms to the automation system over RS485/Modbus.
TEC61.xx.01-04 The DIN 13260-2 medical gas outlet is Tecnomed's terminal unit for hospitals standardised on German probe geometry. Seven gas services – oxygen, nitrous oxide, medical air 4 bar, surgical air 7 bar, vacuum, carbon dioxide and nitrogen – are covered in four connection variants and in both MC all-brass and PC brass-plus-ABS constructions, each one 100% leak tested before dispatch.
TEC61.xx.05-08 The BS 5682 medical gas outlet suits hospitals working to British practice and HTM guidance. Tecnomed supplies all seven gas services – oxygen, nitrous oxide, medical air 4 bar, surgical air 7 bar, vacuum, carbon dioxide and nitrogen – in 45° pipe, 90° pipe, 45° union and rear union versions, each available as MC all-brass or PC ABS-cover.
TEC61.xx.09-12 The AFNOR medical gas outlet covers hospitals built to French practice, common across francophone Africa, the Maghreb and parts of the Middle East. Tecnomed lists all seven gas services to NF S 90-116 in four connection variants – 45° pipe, 90° pipe, 45° union and rear outlet – on the same degreased brass lower body as the rest of the TEC61 range.
TEC61.xx.xx.EV Eva series medical gas outlets are Tecnomed's ergonomic, cost-efficient BS 5682 terminal units. Every part the gas passes through is M58 forged brass, while the housing uses ABS and glass-fibre reinforced engineering plastics. A wide upper head lets nurses release the probe with one finger. Five gas services are offered in four connection variants.
TEC41.01 The Tecnomed oxygen flowmeter with humidifier delivers measured oxygen from a wall or pendant terminal unit to the patient. A brass body carries a graduated flow tube and a detachable 200 ml polycarbonate humidification jar, giving precise flow up to 15 Lpm. Single, twin, hose-fed and all-metal versions are available with DIN, BS, AFNOR or AFROX probes.
TEC41.05 The Tecnomed oxygen cylinder regulator reduces high-pressure cylinder oxygen to a safe patient supply in hospitals, medical areas and ambulances. The chrome-plated brass body accepts up to 250 bar, reads 0-315 bar on the inlet manometer and delivers an adjustable outlet from 16 bar down to 0.2 bar, with single or double gauge and optional emergency outlet.
TEC41.06 A Tecnomed oxygen therapy device combines regulator, flowmeter and humidifier in one unit that regulates and humidifies the pressure coming from a high-pressure oxygen cylinder. The chrome-plated brass body accepts up to 230 bar, delivers 4-5 bar regulated output and 0-15 L/min adjustable flow, with a sterilisable polycarbonate humidifier bottle and optional emergency outlet.
TEC41.10 The Tecnomed vacuum regulator sets the suction drawn from the hospital central vacuum system at the point of care. A chrome-plated brass body carries an on-off valve, flow adjustment control and suction value indicator, and regulates from -250 mbar minimum to -1000 mbar maximum. Paediatric scaling, a trap jar and a Venturi version are available.
