Overview
The technical medical air plant covers the same production chain as a full triplex plant but with one machine set instead of three. A screw compressor delivers compressed air at up to 10 bar into a horizontal receiver tank, the dryer removes moisture, the four-stage filter group sterilises the air, and the medical air regulator group stabilises the outlet pressure before the pipeline. That makes it a more economical route to medical air production for hospitals, laboratories and medical areas with a small number of beds.
Each model is supplied as a matched set: compressor capacities of 41,4 to 187,2 m³/h with motor powers from 5,5 kW (7,5 hp) to 22 kW (30 hp), a 500 Lt or 1000 Lt horizontal tank, one filter set, one dryer of 54 to 216 m³/h and one medical air regulator group for 4-7 bar. The screw compressors (TEC51.21.SC) work on a belt-pulley system with separator filters, so oil is separated from the air inside the screw group and the oil-free air is cooled in the radiator before leaving the compressor outlet. A PLC control screen handles operation and monitoring.
The component family can be specified individually. Compressed air tanks (TEC51.21.AT) come in 250, 500, 1000 and 2000 litre volumes, horizontally or vertically, and are produced to BS EN 286-1:1998+A2:2005. The quad filter group (TEC51.21.FC) chains a general purpose filter, an oil trap filter, an activated carbon filter and a particle trap in an aluminium alloy body rated for 20 bar maximum working pressure. Compressed air dryers (TEC51.21.AD) are supplied as refrigerated or desiccant types, the desiccant version with a redundant tower system, PLC control screen and silencer filters.
The plant can be designed as a two-machine redundant tank-over system, or backed up with cylinders and emergency feeding where a single machine is not acceptable. Tecnomed medical air plants are designed and manufactured under ISO 13485 quality management. The medical air regulator group (TEC51.21.AR) is the last component in the chain: 7-8 bar is preferred for surgical air, 4-5 bar for respiration in intensive care and operating rooms.

Frequently asked questions
How does the technical medical air plant differ from TEC51.20?
The TEC51.20 medical air plant uses three compressors with duplicate tanks, filters and dryers. The technical plant uses one machine set over a horizontal tank, which is more economical and compact. It is intended for hospitals, laboratories and medical areas with a small number of beds, or as a secondary source.
Can a single-compressor plant still be redundant?
Yes. The system can be designed as two redundant tank-over machines, and it can be backed up with cylinders or emergency feeding. That gives a continuity level appropriate to the facility without the cost of a full triplex plant.
What does the quad filter group remove?
Dehumidified air from the dryer enters the general purpose element for first-stage filtration, then the oil trap precision filter removes remaining oil particles and droplets, the activated carbon filter strips oil and hydrocarbon odours, and the particle trap completes the chain so the air meets medical air standards.
Which dryer type should be chosen?
Compressed air dryers are supplied as refrigerated or desiccant types. Desiccant dryers use a redundant tower system with silencer filters and a PLC control screen, giving a lower dew point, while refrigerated dryers are simpler and suit less demanding duties. The choice is made on the required air quality and ambient conditions.
