Overview
The Eva series medical gas outlet was developed by Tecnomed engineers around two goals: an operating action that works with one finger and a price that suits large ward refits. The head is deliberately wide, so the release ring can be pressed without gripping the socket or bracing against the wall – useful when a nurse has a flowmeter, humidifier or ventilator hose in the other hand. Probe geometry follows BS 5682 and the range is designed to the Medical Devices Directive 93/42/EEC.
All components through which gas flows are manufactured from M58 forged brass. The remaining parts are ABS plastic and glass-fibre reinforced engineering plastics, which keeps the unit light and gives the front a hard-wearing, easily cleaned surface. The outlet keeps the platform features of the TEC61 range: a check valve that interrupts flow when the upper body is removed, silicone internal seals, gas-specific colour coding and a copper tail that is degreased and plugged before shipment.
Eva outlets are listed for oxygen, nitrous oxide, medical air 4 bar, surgical air 7 bar and medical vacuum, each in 45° pipe, 90° pipe, 45° unity and rear output versions, identified by the .EV suffix on connection codes 05 to 08. They fit patient rooms, intensive care, operating theatres and day-case areas, and mount into bed head units, pendants, wall gas modules or straight onto copper drops in a new-build or refurbishment.

Frequently asked questions
What makes the Eva series easier to use?
The upper head is wider than on a conventional socket, so the release ring can be pressed with one finger instead of being squeezed. Tecnomed designed it specifically for nurses and healthcare professionals who usually have equipment in their other hand.
Is the Eva series all plastic?
No. Every part the gas passes through is M58 forged brass. ABS plastic and glass-fibre reinforced engineering plastics are used only for the housing and cover parts, which is what keeps the series light and competitively priced.
Which standard does the Eva probe follow?
BS 5682. Eva outlets therefore accept the same probes as the standard Tecnomed BS 5682 range, and the codes use the same connection numbers 05 to 08 with an .EV suffix.
Does the Eva series cover carbon dioxide and nitrogen?
The Eva range is listed for oxygen, nitrous oxide, medical air 4 bar, surgical air 7 bar and medical vacuum. For carbon dioxide and nitrogen, use the standard BS 5682 or DIN 13260-2 outlets, or the Mega series for carbon dioxide.
