Terminal Wall-Mount Gas Outlets – Flush and Surface Mounted Boxes

Terminal wall-mount gas outlets put a single medical gas outlet in a compact moulded case that fixes directly to the wall. The simple, rounded housing looks deliberate in patient areas and installs quickly in either flush-mounted or surface-mounted form. All seven gas services are listed for BS 5682, DIN 13260-2 and AFNOR NF S 90-116.

TEC61.xx.xx.TU Terminal Wall-Mount Gas Outlets – TEC61.xx.xx.TU

Overview

A terminal wall-mount gas outlet is the stand-alone version of the TEC61 terminal unit: the same brass socket, but delivered in its own case so it can be fixed straight to a wall without a bed head unit, pendant or module behind it. The case has a simple, elegant profile with rounded corners, which keeps a ward or corridor position looking finished rather than improvised, and gives the copper tail a protected route out of the back or top of the box.

Installation is the main argument for this version. Flush-mounted and surface-mounted options are both available, so the same product covers a new wall built around a back box and an existing wall where the box is screwed on and the pipe chased or surface run. Because the internal socket is the standard TEC61 unit, everything else behaves as in the rest of the range: check-valve isolation when the head is removed, brass gas path, silicone seals and 100% leak testing.

Codes carry the standard in the third block – .BS.TU, .DIN.TU or .NF.TU – and the gas number in the second, covering oxygen, nitrous oxide, medical air 4 bar, medical air 7 bar, medical vacuum, carbon dioxide and nitrogen. Typical positions are single beds added to an existing ward, examination and treatment rooms, day-case chairs, imaging rooms and corridors where a full bed head unit would be disproportionate.

Frequently asked questions

When should I use a terminal box instead of a bed head unit?

Where only one or two gas services are needed and there is no requirement for electrical sockets, lighting or nurse call. Examination rooms, imaging rooms, day-case chairs and single added beds are typical cases; a full ward bay is usually better served by a bed head unit.

How do I read the product code?

The second block is the gas – 01 oxygen, 02 nitrous oxide, 03 medical air 4 bar, 04 medical air 7 bar, 05 vacuum, 06 carbon dioxide, 07 nitrogen – and the third block is the standard: BS, DIN or NF. So TEC61.05.DIN.TU is a DIN 13260-2 vacuum terminal box.

Can the box be installed flush with the wall?

Yes. Both flush-mounted and surface-mounted options are offered. Flush installation is planned with the wall build, while the surface version is fixed to a finished wall and is the usual choice in refurbishment.

Is the internal outlet the same as the standard range?

It is. The case holds a standard TEC61 terminal unit, so it shares the check-valve maintenance behaviour, the brass gas path, the silicone seals and the same probes and adapters as the rest of the range.
