Overview
An AFNOR medical gas outlet takes the NF S 90-116 probe, a screw-collar type connector widely specified in French-influenced healthcare systems. Tecnomed builds it on the standard TEC61 platform: a calibrated brass lower body, a gas-specific separator housing in nickel-free chrome-plated brass and a check valve that closes the gas path the moment the upper body is lifted, so heads can be serviced without isolating the ward. All internal seals are silicone and every gas-wetted part is brass.
The catalogue lists one product code per gas and connection type, from TEC61.01.09 for an oxygen outlet with a 45° pipe connection through to TEC61.07.12 for a nitrogen rear outlet. Connection numbers run 09 to 12, keeping AFNOR distinct from the DIN block (01 to 04) and the BS block (05 to 08) while the gas number in the middle of the code stays the same across all three standards.
AFNOR outlets are used in patient rooms, intensive care, operating theatres and emergency departments, mounted in bed head units, pendants, zone modules or directly on copper drops. Standard copper tails are 8 mm diameter and 120 mm long, with 10 mm and 12 mm optional, degreased and plugged before shipment. AFNOR terminal wall boxes (TEC61.xx.NF.TU) and AFNOR probes and adapters are available from the same range.

Frequently asked questions
Which connection codes identify the AFNOR range?
Connection numbers 09 to 12: 09 is the 45° pipe connection, 10 the 90° pipe connection, 11 the 45° union connection and 12 the rear outlet. The gas number stays in the middle of the code, so TEC61.03.10 is a medical air 4 bar outlet with a 90° pipe connection.
Are AFNOR outlets compatible with DIN or BS probes?
No, and deliberately so. Each standard has its own non-interchangeable probe geometry, which is what prevents equipment for one gas or one standard being connected to the wrong socket. Order the outlet standard that matches the probes already used in the hospital.
Can AFNOR outlets be supplied for emergency inlet points?
AFNOR connections are widely used for emergency gas inlets, and Tecnomed offers AFNOR emergency inlets on its double stage regulator panels and second stage regulators as well as AFNOR terminal units in this range.
Which mounting options are available?
The same body fits bed head units, pendants and the TEC62 wall gas module, or can be installed on a bare copper drop. For surface or flush wall mounting on its own, the AFNOR terminal box TEC61.xx.NF.TU is the simplest solution.
