Overview

The vertical intensive care unit is designed as a floor-to-ceiling column used in intensive care services that do not have a wall-mounting facility, or where the hospital wants easier access to utilities from both sides of the bed. The column is fixed at floor and ceiling, with gas outlets grouped in rows on the front face, a vertical strip of electrical sockets down one edge and, on the units shown in the catalogue, a digital time and date display integrated into the panel.

The medical accessory rail on the unit is what makes it work clinically: it carries suction equipment such as vacuum jars and catheter jars, monitor stands and other rail-mounted equipment, so the bedside is served from the column rather than from trolleys. Right and left IV poles and infusion perfuser carrier stainless arms are mounted on the unit as well. Standard accessories include 12 mains sockets, 12 UPS sockets, 8 grounding points, data sockets, 2 serum hangers and the accessory rail.

Tecnomed manufactures the intensive care range in accordance with EN 11197. Vertical units are produced in different colours and patterns and are sized to the room height and to the hospital project - the catalogue shows Chrome and Wood design finishes alongside a printed graphic panel. Nurse call provision and medical gas outlets in DIN, BS or AFNOR pattern are offered as options, so the column can be matched to the pipeline standard already in use.

Frequently asked questions

What can be mounted on the vertical unit's accessory rail?

Suction equipment such as vacuum jars and catheter jars, monitor stands and other rail-mounted equipment. The unit also carries right and left IV poles and infusion perfuser carrier stainless arms, with two serum hangers supplied as standard.

How is the unit sized?

Vertical intensive care units are produced according to the room length and to the hospital project, and in different colours and patterns. The column is fixed floor to ceiling, so the height is set from the finished floor to slab dimension of the specific room.

How does it differ from the Sude vertical unit?

Both are columns. Sude is oriented around storage and can be produced to serve two patients front and back, while the TEC11.14 vertical unit is a floor-to-ceiling column focused on rail-mounted equipment, IV poles and infusion carrier arms for services with no wall-mounting facility.

Are medical gas outlets included?

They are offered as an option in DIN, BS or AFNOR pattern, so the column matches the pipeline standard already used in the hospital. Nurse call provision is likewise available as an option on the standard accessory list.

Suction Jars and Disposable Vacuum Jars

The reusable graduated jar lets staff read collected volume directly, while the disposable vacuum jar suits single-use collection protocols. Both mount to Tecnomed vacuum regulators and can be combined with a trap jar to protect the regulator and pipeline.
