Overview
The Vexillum intensive care unit is a functional wall unit on which the equipment used during intervention with the patient is mounted and on which the medical gas sockets and electrical services are located. It is described in the catalogue as one of the indispensable units of intensive care services with all its standard features, which is another way of saying that it is the baseline ICU unit: everything a critical care bay needs, without project-specific extras.
The profile is horizontal, with an upper and a lower rail running the full length of the unit so monitors, pumps and rail-mounted accessories can be positioned freely along the bay. Standard accessories are six grounded mains sockets and six UPS sockets in DIN, UK or USA pattern, grounding points, one data socket, optional nurse call provision and medical gas outlets in DIN, BS or AFNOR pattern. Services are typically arranged in two mirrored groups so both sides of the bed are equally served.
Tecnomed manufactures all its intensive care units in accordance with EN 11197, and produces them specifically for each customer and hospital project - the visual designs of the intensive care range are reserved to Tecnomed and drawn for the individual contract. The unit is specified for general intensive care bays, coronary and neurological intensive care, post-anaesthesia care and neonatal areas where a wall-mounted solution is preferred to a ceiling system.

Frequently asked questions
Why is Vexillum described as the standard intensive care unit?
Because it carries the full standard feature set of a Tecnomed ICU unit without project-specific additions: six mains and six UPS sockets, grounding points, a data socket, optional nurse call provision and medical gas outlets. It is the reference unit against which the Flash and Trio variants are specified.
When should Trio be chosen instead?
Trio is offered where more electrical services are needed and where a 30 x 10 mm rail service is required to accommodate all accessories across a wide wall. If the bay needs additional socket capacity or a longer accessory rail run, Trio is the better fit; otherwise Vexillum covers the requirement.
Can the visual design be changed?
The visual designs of all Tecnomed intensive care units are reserved and drawn specifically for the customer and the hospital project, so the front panel graphic and finish are agreed as part of the contract rather than chosen from a fixed list.
