Overview
The Hendem bed head unit is built from a single aluminium monolithic channel rather than an assembly of body and cover sections, which gives the unit a continuous, elegant line across the wall. Along that channel sit the reading lamp, the electrical sockets and the medical gas outlets. Each electrical outlet has its own separate connection socket and each gas socket has its own connection within the gas service, so services can be traced and maintained individually.
Electrical and gas systems in the unit are designed completely separate from each other throughout the body, which is the core requirement of EN 11197 practice and the reason the profile is divided internally. The standard specification covers two grounded mains sockets, two UPS sockets, a data socket, one LED bottom reading light, a switch group, nurse call provision as an option and medical gas outlets in DIN, BS or AFNOR pattern, also offered as an option where the hospital supplies its own outlets.
Tecnomed produces Hendem units in the colours and sizes that fit the hospital project and its architectural design, with optional lengths up to 6000 mm for long walls and multi-bed rooms. Optional features include grounding points, front cover design options and antibacterial paint in RAL colours. The model is aimed at high-end customers who want superior build quality and an ergonomic layout that lets staff reach lighting, electrical services and gas sockets without difficulty.

Frequently asked questions
What does an aluminium monolithic channel mean in practice?
The whole unit is produced from one continuous aluminium channel rather than a frame with separate bolted-on sections. That gives a cleaner line on the wall, fewer joints to collect dust and a rigid body that holds its shape over long spans, which matters when the run reaches the maximum 6000 mm length.
How long can a Hendem unit be?
Optional lengths are available up to 6000 mm. Beyond the standard size, units are produced in the colour and dimension that match the hospital project and its architectural design, so multi-bed rooms can be covered by a single continuous profile.
What is the difference between Hendem and Hendem-X?
Hendem carries a reading lamp and a switch group. Hendem-X adds upper room lighting, a double switch group and four additional room lighting options, so it is the choice where the bedhead also has to light the room rather than only the bed.
