Overview
Medical copper pipe is the distribution backbone of a hospital gas system, carrying oxygen, nitrous oxide, medical air, carbon dioxide and vacuum from the plant room to every terminal unit. Tecnomed pipe is produced seamless in accordance with EN 13348 and supplied degreased, so it can be brazed into a medical gas network without the internal contamination that ordinary plumbing copper carries. It is compatible with equipment manufactured under the Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC and is the material specified across Tecnomed's own pipeline projects.
Each straight pipe is produced as a 5-metre length and closed with caps at both ends, keeping the bore clean between the mill and the brazing joint. Every pipe is marked with the EN 13348 norm and its diameter along the surface, so a commissioning engineer or inspector can verify the material on the installed run rather than relying on delivery paperwork. Manufacturing follows current global-market practice and is backed by the testing that guarantees dimensional and metallurgical compatibility with the fittings supplied alongside.
The mounted equipment programme completes the installation. Copper pipe fittings cover elbows, tees, reducers and couplings in matching material; single and double clamps hold the run with the correct spacing; GCu sleeves, M8 studs and washers, steel anchor clamps and clamp rail provide the support system on concrete and steelwork. Ordering pipe, fittings and supports as one package keeps the installed system consistent and removes the mixed-material joints that complicate later inspection.

Frequently asked questions
How is medical copper pipe different from standard copper tube?
Medical pipe is manufactured seamless to EN 13348 and supplied degreased and capped, so no oil, swarf or moisture is carried into the gas stream. Standard plumbing copper is not cleaned to that level and is not marked for medical service. Using the correct material is a condition of EN ISO 7396-1 commissioning, and inspectors will check the marking on the installed run.
What lengths and diameters are supplied?
Straight pipe is produced in 5-metre lengths with caps on both ends. Diameters are supplied to suit the flow calculation for each section of the pipeline; send the schedule or the drawing with your enquiry and the quantities per diameter will be quoted, together with the fittings and clamps needed for the same run.
Do you supply the supports and fittings as well?
Yes. The mounted equipment programme covers copper pipe fittings, single and double clamps, GCu sleeves, M8 studs and washers, steel anchor clamps and clamp rail. Buying pipe and supports together keeps material specification consistent and simplifies both site logistics and the final inspection.
How do I prove the material during commissioning?
Every pipe carries the EN 13348 norm and its diameter marked along the surface, so the installed run can be verified visually without reference to delivery notes. Tecnomed also supplies the accompanying documentation for the project file required under EN ISO 7396-1 and HTM 02-01 handover.
