Gas Valve with Manometer – Medical Gas Flow Valve and Indicator

The Tecnomed gas valve with manometer is produced to act as gas flow control and indicator on hospital medical gas systems. A chrome-plated brass body carries a flow adjustment knob, a pressure or vacuum gauge and a gas-specific connection probe, with a hose outlet for connecting equipment at the bed head, pendant or wall module.

Overview

A gas valve with manometer plugs into a medical gas terminal unit and gives the user a single device for switching the gas on, setting the delivered amount and reading the resulting pressure. It is the simplest way to take a controlled feed from the pipeline where a full flowmeter is not required – for instance to drive an air-powered device, supply a nebuliser circuit or provide a metered service point on a wall gas module. The gauge gives immediate confirmation that the pipeline is live and at pressure.

The body is machined brass with chrome plating for cleaning and corrosion resistance. The flow adjustment knob controls the delivered amount and the gauge can be supplied as a pressure gauge for oxygen, nitrous oxide, medical air and carbon dioxide, or as a vacuum gauge where the valve serves a suction outlet. The connection probe is gas specific, so the device physically cannot be inserted into the wrong terminal unit, and the outlet is dimensioned for standard medical gas hose connection.

Because both the probe standard and the gauge type are selected at order, the same device covers several roles across a hospital. It is specified in operating theatres, intensive care, treatment and endoscopy rooms, and wherever a wall gas module or pendant needs a controlled, indicated take-off. Supplied with BS 5682, DIN 13260-2 or AFNOR NF S 90-116 probes, it drops straight into an existing Tecnomed outlet programme.

Frequently asked questions

When would I use a gas valve with manometer instead of a flowmeter?

Use it where the requirement is a controlled, indicated supply to equipment rather than a calibrated patient flow in litres per minute. Typical cases are feeding air-driven devices, supplying a service point on a wall gas module, or providing a check point that shows the pipeline is live. Where the clinician must set a precise patient flow, specify an oxygen flowmeter instead.

Can it be used on a vacuum outlet?

Yes. The device is ordered with a vacuum gauge and a vacuum probe, which lets it act as an indicated on-off and adjustment point on a suction terminal. State the gas service with the enquiry so the correct gauge, probe and labelling are fitted at the factory.

Which gases can it be supplied for?

Oxygen, nitrous oxide, medical air at 4 bar, medical air at 7 bar, carbon dioxide and medical vacuum. Each version carries its own probe index and labelling so the valve can only be connected to the matching terminal unit, preventing cross-connection at the fitting itself.
