Overview
A twin pendant mounts one ceiling flange and one central beam, then hangs two complete service columns from separate arms on either side. Each head swings independently, so a twin pendant can cover two adjacent intensive care bed spaces from a single structural fixing, or split one workstation into a wet side for suction and drainage and a dry side for monitoring and infusion. This halves the number of ceiling penetrations and keeps the slab work simple in refurbishment projects.
Both heads carry the standard package of eight electrical sockets in UK, USA or European pattern, eight grounding points and two rail racks, and both are fitted with colour-coded brake buttons and knuckles so the joint being released is always obvious. Load carrying capacity is 90 kg as standard, and a customised build up to 180 kg is available where a full monitoring and ventilation stack is mounted. An electromagnetic and pneumatic brake system can be specified as an option.
Shelves, IV poles, a drawer, a data socket cover, pressure gauges for the medical gases and medical gas outlets in BS, DIN or AFNOR pattern can be configured differently on each head, so a single unit can be built asymmetrically to suit the two roles it serves. Can a twin pendant serve two different beds?
Yes. The two heads hang from separate arms on a common beam, so each one can be positioned over its own bed space. This is a common arrangement in intensive care bays where ceiling fixing points are limited or where the slab structure makes a second penetration difficult.
