Motorized Single Arm Double Joint Pendant (TEC21.01)

The motorized single arm double joint pendant is a compact ceiling supply unit for intensive care beds and smaller theatres. One arm and two joints give the service head a controlled swing around the bed, and the motorized column adjusts working height electrically while carrying the same standard socket, grounding and rail package.

TEC21.01 Motorized Single Arm Double Joint Pendant – TEC21.01

Overview

A motorized single arm double joint pendant suspends the service column on one horizontal arm with two rotating joints. The head can be swung through an arc around the bed and returned to a parking position against the wall, which is usually all that is required at an intensive care bed space or in a treatment room where the equipment stays on one side of the patient. The column is motorized, so the head is raised and lowered electrically to suit the task and the person performing it.

The standard build carries eight electrical sockets in UK, USA or European pattern, eight grounding points and two rail racks for monitors, pumps and drawers. Brake buttons and knuckles are colour-coded so the joint being released is immediately identifiable, and an electromagnetic and pneumatic brake system can be specified as an option. Load carrying capacity is 90 kg as standard, with customised versions available up to 180 kg where a heavier equipment stack has to be supported from the same head.

Optional equipment includes shelves, an IV pole, a drawer, a data socket cover, pressure gauges for the medical gases and medical gas outlets in BS, DIN or AFNOR pattern. Because a single arm unit needs less ceiling structure and less free space than a double arm pendant, it is often the practical choice for retrofit projects, for rooms with a low slab height and for bed positions where the pendant only has to reach one side of the patient.

Frequently asked questions

When is a single arm pendant enough?

When the service head only has to reach one side of the patient and there is a clear parking position, a single arm double joint unit covers the need at lower cost and with less ceiling structure. Theatres where the head must cross the table or serve two positions call for the double arm three joint version.

Does the motorized version need a separate power supply?

The pendant is fed from the room's electrical installation, which also supplies the eight sockets and eight grounding points on the service head. The drive for the column is part of the unit, so no separate equipment is installed in the room.

Can it be installed in an existing ward?

Yes, provided the ceiling structure can take the mounting load. Single arm units are frequently used in refurbishment projects because they need a smaller fixing plate and less clear ceiling space than a double arm pendant. Tecnomed dimensions the unit after the ceiling detail is confirmed.
