Overview
A motorized double arm three joint pendant hangs the service column from the ceiling through two horizontal arms connected by three rotating joints. Each joint turns independently, so the head can be swung around the operating table, parked clear of the anaesthesia position between cases and brought back over the patient without moving the bed. The column itself is motorized: the head travels up and down electrically, which lets staff set outlets, sockets and instrument trays at a comfortable working level instead of reaching or stooping.
Every unit is delivered with a standard service package of eight electrical sockets in UK, USA or European pattern, eight grounding points and two rail racks for mounting monitors, pumps and other rail equipment. Brake buttons and knuckles are colour-coded so it is obvious which joint is being released while the head is under load. Load carrying capacity is 90 kg as standard and can be built up to 180 kg when heavy ventilators, monitors and infusion equipment have to share the same service head.
Options include shelves, an IV pole, a drawer, a data socket cover, pressure gauges for the medical gases and medical gas outlets in BS, DIN or AFNOR pattern, so the pendant can be dressed for anaesthesia, surgery or critical care. An electromagnetic and pneumatic brake system is available in place of the standard arrangement. Tecnomed produces each operating room and intensive care pendant for the specific project, matching arm lengths, service mix and finish to the room and to the equipment that will hang on it.

Frequently asked questions
Why choose three joints instead of two?
Three joints give the service head a second pivot point, so it can be moved around obstacles such as the surgical lamp and swung well clear of the table when it is not in use. In large theatres this is what allows one pendant to serve both the surgical and the anaesthesia side of the table without repositioning the bed.
How is the height adjusted?
The column is motorized, so height is changed electrically from the control on the service head. That keeps outlets, sockets and the instrument tray within easy reach regardless of who is working at the unit or whether the patient is on a table or a bed.
Can it carry a ventilator and a monitor at the same time?
Standard capacity is 90 kg, which covers a typical monitor, pumps and a rail of accessories. For a full anaesthesia or critical care load the pendant can be customised up to 180 kg. Send the equipment list with the enquiry and the build is dimensioned for it.
