IV Poles and Infusion Stands - Intertwinement Type Serum Trolley and Patient Walker

Tecnomed IV poles and infusion stands are intertwinement-type transport stands for patient rooms, wards and intensive care units. The TEC81.01 serum trolley and TEC81.02 patient walker share a stainless steel pole, four hooks at 90 degrees, one-hand height adjustment and twin braked castors, and their nesting leg geometry saves up to 72% of storage space compared with conventional infusion stands.

Overview

The intertwinement type serum trolley TEC81.01 is an IV pole built for normal care wards, patient rooms and intensive care units. A stainless steel telescopic pole carries a screw-in stainless steel bottle holder and four hooks set at 90 degrees to each other, so several bottles or bags can hang without fouling one another. Height is set with one hand using the blue adjustment collar, which leaves the other hand free for the line or the patient. The weighted base measures 630 x 620 mm and runs on four twin castors of 75 mm diameter, with brakes and electrostatic discharge.

The pipes are stainless steel produced in accordance with DIN EN 10217-7, and all plastic parts are moulded in blue and are resistant to sunlight, so they do not discolour in window bays or day rooms. An integrated extension limiter prevents the telescopic tubes from being pulled apart during adjustment, and the compact design keeps the hooks, holder and collars captive so individual components are not lost or disassembled on the ward. Total load capacity is 8 kg per system with 2 kg per hook, and the rated space saving of the stand is 52.5%.

The intertwinement type patient walker TEC81.02 uses the same pole, hook set and adjustment system on a rectangular tubular chassis with handles, so the patient can walk with the infusion running while holding a stable frame. Its integrated foot weight allows infusion pumps and other medical devices to be mounted securely without the stand becoming top-heavy, and the low frame rolls over floor transitions without getting stuck. Both models are stackable: the legs interlace, and a row of walkers or trolleys takes up a fraction of the corridor or store room space of ordinary stands.

Typical use is in inpatient wards, oncology and dialysis day units, emergency departments, intensive care units and recovery areas, either as a free-standing IV pole or as a mobile base for syringe and volumetric pumps. The stands are supplied in stainless steel with blue plastic parts as standard, and hook count, pole length, bottle holder type and castor specification can be reviewed for the project. They are often ordered together with Tecnomed bed head units and ICU rail accessories so the ward has a single, consistent set of equipment.

Frequently asked questions

What is an intertwinement type IV pole?

It is a stand whose legs are shaped to interlace with the legs of the next stand instead of blocking them. Several poles can therefore be pushed into one another and parked as a compact group. Tecnomed rates the stand at 52.5% space saving, and up to 72% compared with conventional infusion stands.

How many bottles can be hung at once?

Four hooks are fitted, arranged at 90 degrees to each other, plus a screw-in stainless steel bottle holder on the pole. Each hook is rated for 2 kg and the whole system for 8 kg, which covers a normal multi-line infusion set-up in a ward or intensive care bay.

Are the castors suitable for intensive care use?

The base runs on four 75 mm twin castors with brakes and electrostatic discharge, so the stand rolls smoothly across thresholds and cable covers and can be locked at the bedside. Twin castors reduce the chance of the stand catching or tipping when it is pulled sideways.

Can a patient walk while connected to the infusion?

Yes, that is what the TEC81.02 patient walker is for. It combines the infusion pole with a rolling walking frame and handles, and its integrated foot weight lets pumps and other devices be mounted securely, so mobilisation can continue without disconnecting the line.
